Our Story
Growing up, butchering was more than just a skill — it was an essential part of my family’s well-being and way of life. From a young age, my stepfamily, members of the Navajo Nation, welcomed me as one of their own and taught me the sacred balance between life and death. I learned early on that to take a life means to honor it — to give an animal the best life possible so that it, in turn, can give life to us.
I still remember my grandmother praying over every animal before it transitioned to the afterlife. She taught us to never take more than we need and to use every single part of the animal with purpose and gratitude. That deep respect for life — and the responsibility that comes with it — is the foundation of who we are today.
More than 25 years later, those same values continue to guide everything we do at The Honest Butcher & Co. We partner with sustainable and ethical producers across Arizona who share our respect for the land, the animals, and the communities we serve. One of our most valued partnerships is with K4 Ranch in Prescott Valley, Arizona — a family-run ranch dedicated to regenerative practices, responsible stewardship, and raising cattle with care from start to finish.
